Surprising New Marketing Tools & Tactics at the FBN

The July meeting of the Southeast Michigan Franchise Business Network (FBN) brought out more than 40 franchisors, franchisees and suppliers. Plante Moran graciously hosted the event at their Detroit offices in the Compuware Building.

Typically, re:group is only the facilitator of this quarterly event, but this time the re:group media and social media teams took the stage as speakers. CEO Jan Muhleman moderated the panel.

Karry Oleszkiewicz, media director, led the discussion with a review of mobile’s increased usage as it becomes a “do or die” marketing medium.

Domenick Viviano, digital media supervisor, took the audience through the key players and targeting options in self-service paid social media platforms. Most popular now include Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and—most recently—Pinterest.

Taylor Hulyk, social media director, provided a high-level review of the prominent social networks and demographics they attract. She then shared three franchise-friendly social media monitoring tools that facilitate real-time engagement with people talking about or within the vicinity of a franchise location: Sysomos Heartbeat, WeLink and NewBrand.
