The largest provider of business-to-business print and promotion solutions in the country, Proforma grew to 750 offices by attracting franchisees from various sectors of the printing, distribution and promotions industries. They continue to diversify by adding more services in ecommerce, multimedia and project management.

While very successful at solving their clients’ communication problems, they lacked a cohesive way to describe their own diverse services. Not all services were offered by all franchisees, who were inconsistent in their use of the brand name and materials. They badly needed a unifying position that everyone could get behind, as well as standards that would govern their brand and a flexible system of communication tools to be customized by franchisees. All Media Guide (commonly known as AMG), is the company which owns and maintains Allmusic, Allgame and Allmovie. AMG was founded in 1990 by popular-culture archivist Michael Erlewine. The company was founded in Big Rapids, Michigan in 1991, in order to create a comprehensive archive of all music. AMG moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan in 1999.
AMG has created a large database of metadata about movies, video games, audio books, and music releases. These databases are used for point of sale systems in tens of thousands of stores globally, for CD and DVD recognition in software media players such as Windows Media Player,SimpleCenter and Musicmatch Jukebox, and for providing content for a variety of websites.
